EIA Monthly Energy Report

The U.S. Energy Information Administration will issue its Monthly Energy Review, providing data on energy production, consumption, prices and trade. Wind is set to outpace natural gas as the fastest-growing source of U.S. electricity generation, according to the agency.

ME PUC ENMAX, Emera Acquisition Hearing

The Maine Public Utilities Commission will hear from members of the public on a proposal by Emera Maine to be acquired by ENMAX Corp. for $1.3 billion, anticipated to close later this year. The transaction is part of Emera’s three-year funding plan which involves the sale of assets to reduce its corporate debt. Emera Maine is a subsidiary of Emera Inc.

NY PSC NYSEG Rate Settlement Negotiations

The New York Public Service Commission will discuss a settlement agreement following changes proposed by the New York State Electric & Gas Corporation to its electric and gas delivery rates and practices. The utility proposes to raise its annual electric delivery revenues by $174.5 million and annual gas delivery rates by $9.4 million. The changes would increase the average monthly residential electric and gas bills by 15 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively. 19-E-0378

CA PUC PG&E Bankruptcy Conference

The California Public Utilities Commission will discuss next steps in its consideration of PG&E’s plan for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy code. The regulator initiated a proceeding to discuss many issues related to the embattled utility’s future, namely PG&E’s participation in the Wildfire Fund, resolution of monetary fines and penalties, the company’s governance structure and whether the plan is consistent with the state’s climate goals. AB AUC Cypress 200MW Wind Farm Hearing

The Alberta Utilities Commission will consider an application from Cypress Renewable Energy Centre GP Inc. to construct and operate the 201.6-megawatt Cypress Wind Power Project and to connect it to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. The project would consist of 48 turbines with a maximum generating capability of 4.2 megawatts each and associated support facilities. 24891

IA UB Alliant Energy Rate Case Deadline

The Iowa Utilities Board will is scheduled to receive comments on a request by Alliant Energy’s subsidiary Interstate Power and Light Company to raise both electric and natural gas rates. The company is requesting a total increase in annual retail electric revenues of $204 million and $21 million for natural gas. Alliant states they are investing in more renewable energy generation, particularly wind, as well as grid modernization and resilience such as advanced meters, adding underground wires and improved monitoring of transmission equipment. CA PUC Utility Resource Planning Deadline

The California Public Utilities Commission is scheduled to receive comments on a staff proposal to revise the requirements for utilities’ integrated resource plans filed in 2020. The proposal would require standard plans from all load-serving entities and remove alternative plans. The changes also eliminate the possibility of filing alternative or “non-conforming portfolios” for the 2019-2020 cycle, instead, requiring conforming portfolios using each entity’s assigned load forecast and a demonstration that it is consistent with the reference system portfolio based on certain criteria.
