Quinbrook Begins Construction of 300-Megawatt Wind Facility in Texas

Scout Clean Energy LLC, a Colorado-based renewable energy developer, announced the closing of financing and the launch of construction of its 300-megawatt Ranchero wind park in Texas, according to a Jan. 17 press release. The project has a 10-year proxy revenue swap, or PRS, with Allianz Global & Specialty Inc.’s Alternative Risk Transfer unit, in partnership with Nephila Climate. Allianz advanced the swap solution to secure stable revenues and reduce the generation volume uncertainty associated with the intermittent nature of wind resources. REsurety Inc. provided the risk analytics for the PRS transaction and will continue to act as the calculation agent. The project is expected to come online by the end of this year.

Scout’s affiliate Harvest Energy Services will be in charge of construction management. The company said it has entered into a fixed-price balance of plant construction deal with Renewable Energy Systems Americas.

Scout’s operational assets are expected to surpass one gigawatt in the next 18 months and 2 gigawatts by 2021. The company is developing a 2.4-gigawatt portfolio of wind generation projects across 10 U.S. states, according to its website.

Scout is a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, an investor in low carbon energy infrastructure.
