The ESRI Energy Resources GIS conference is the new version of the ESRI Petroleum GIS Conference. The evolution towards a new, integrated multi-sourced environment was the reason for a name change. The event now serves broader communities and a wider range of topics. The conference, which was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston on the 4th and 5th of May, offered discussion about collectively elevating the value of data, technology, skills, and workflow.
ESRI provides several technology building blocks to support intelligent operations, from managing assets and infrastructure systems of record to mobile apps, tracking and navigating, to integrating real-time data streams. The event gave a great insight session to explore integrating these tools, with the aim of providing a real-time digital twin of a business field operation.
ESRI gave participants the opportunity to discover new ideas with their plenary session, where thought leaders shared ideas and demonstrated how to create value with a geographic approach.
The valuable user presentations allowed attendees to hear success stories and get practical tips and tricks in applying GIS to today’s more challenging workflows.
Dive deep into the latest technologies with ESRI
There is no better place than ESRI to dive deep into the latest technologies, engaging in an interactive learning and sharing environment that features technical updates and demonstrations of this amazing software that is becoming king in driving energy innovation and efficiency.
The opening plenary session, hosted by ESRI, the PUG chair and many industry participants, highlighted how GIS is empowering all aspects of a modern, diversified energy portfolio. Many guest speakers shared how their organizations are currently using the GIS technology to improve their operational efficiency by optimizing resources and focus.
ESRI gave participants the chance to reconnect with peers and see demonstrations of enhanced capabilities and trends in ArcGIS, learning how ESRI technology supports businesses’ digital transformation.
Members of the ArcGIS Pro development team shared an early look at new and improved capabilities in ArcGIS Pro. This was a great way for participants to learn about what’s new in the latest release of ArcGIS Pro and what’s coming in the next release of this innovative technology.
Another session covered 3D visualization capabilities for wells and leases, along with new purpose-built well-spacing analytics. These are meant to improve unconventional workflow developments.
Tips and tricks for automation of mobile workflow
The mobile track was kicked off with an impressive enterprise journey deploying mobile tools to improve the efficiency of field operations. It is inspiring to see what is possible to achieve with technology. Participants were provided with plenty of tips and tricks for automation of their mobile workflow by leveraging Python Notebooks. A key takeaway for this session was a clever workflow process way of thinking.
By discussing different adoption strategies that have proven successful for organizations launching enterprise-wide initiatives, ESRI is the proof that the energy industry is undergoing extremely rapid digital transformation, therefore it is essential to recognize the pivotal role that people play in this major switch.
