A circular economy is a model of related and highly connected production and consumption, which includes sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as much as possible, for as long as possible. Circular City Week New York was founded to celebrate this innovative model and assist in its implementation.
The Circular City Week New York event takes part in the circular economy movement and spurs action within a number of industries, including the energy industry. The 2022 edition of the festival offered a wide range of opportunities to engage in the movement and actively get involved with circularity. This year’s event took place on May 2-8 2022, it was the fourth time the event was held.

Partnerships with Circular City Week New York
Partnership possibilities are a good way for public, private and nonprofit stakeholders to get involved. Everyone from community organizations and startups to multinationals and corporations are welcome to participate.
Circular economy has become a global mega-trend, with the potential to transform industries and redesign urban living. The transformative potential of circularity is not limited to a single sector or industry, but can involve everything from the food industry, and digitization, to energy and a sharing economy.
“Today more than 70 percent of the world’s population lives in cities. Urbanization puts huge pressure on our environment and climate, and we need to change the way we live to preserve our planet for future generations. We need to dispose of the way we use and consume resources. Circular City Week is a unique platform that will kickstart the necessary change,” says Kinga Szabo Christensen, CEO, Danish Cleantech Hub.
EnerKnol participates in Circular City Week New York
EnerKnol is honored to participate in Circular City Week New York, because being able to keep up with changes in the policies and regulations needed to achieve an effective circular economy is essential. This is true not only within the energy industry, but for all kinds of manufacturers as well. EnerKnol’s cloud-based software enables users across the energy spectrum access and track policy data in real-time. This data includes 40m+ filings, and includes orders, tariffs, rate changes, stakeholder documents, and much more.
Every product’s source material undergoes a series of complex regulations affecting all phases of its lifecycle, including its sourcing, processing, manufacturing, distribution and use. This is the case for paper, hazardous materials, fibers, glass, plastics, aluminum and many more materials. EnerKnol helps businesses stay on top of local, state, federal, proposed and active legislations affecting the product life cycle of all these materials and make faster decisions that will assist the creation and maintenance of a circular economy.
“Many cities and companies in the U.S. are already embracing circular economy models. Innovation is a key driver to make a circular economy flourish, but simply promoting innovation is not enough. What is needed to realize the full potential of innovation is action, and barriers such as legislation must be eliminated to stimulate a circular system,” says Kinga Szabo Christensen.
Circular City Week is a great platform for everyone to share knowledge, no matter from what perspective circularity is approached. Whether it is an environmental standpoint, or a design framework, Circular City Week is the place to do it.
The aim of the event was to inspire industry professionals across all sectors, showcase international pioneers, highlight local change-makers and engage students to become involved in the future of circularity.
With more than 10,000 participants, Circular City Week is by far the largest circular economy festival in the U.S. It is organized in collaboration with more than 200 organizations on a local and global level.
