Illinois Commerce Commission Names New Executive Director for Utility Issues
The Illinois Commerce Commission announced that Christy George has been named as its new Executive Director, according to a November 15 press release.
When taking over on November 18, 2019, she will be the first female executive director, not serving in an interim capacity, to supervise the Commission Staff and oversee the management of the agency’s budget. Presently, there are approximately 211 employees at the ICC.
Prior to joining the commission, Ms. George served as the Deputy Budget Director for the City of Chicago, overseeing and developing budgets for Chicago’s public safety departments. She also served as an Assistant Commissioner for the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection.
The Illinois Commerce Commission is a quasi-judicial body made up of five Commissioners. Through its Public Utility Program, the state regulator oversees the provision of utility services to Illinois citizens served by electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water and sewer public utility companies.
