NARUC Innovation Webinar: Free Datasets and Tools to Benchmark Rates and Analyze Affordability
The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) will host an Innovation Webinar on March 26, 2026, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. ET. This webinar explores two tools that can help regulators navigate these challenges through open-source, transparent databases and models: the U.S. Utility Rate Database (URDB) and the Customer Affordability, Incentives, and Rates Optimization (CAIRO) model. The URDB is a free, open-source database of electricity tariffs from utilities across the United States. The URDB allows users to search for rates from a given utility and discover how those rates are structured, including the specific demand, energy, and fixed charge components, and how they may vary by month and time of day.
