The New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission initiated a working group process in April 2016 to investigate grid modernization as part of its proceeding (Docket No. IR 15-296) aimed to explore the extent of workable grid modernization, including the integration of intermittent energy sources, demand-side management, and smart meters. The working group aims to investigate distribution system planning, customer engagement with DERs (advanced metering functionality, rate design, customer data, and customer education), utility cost recovery, and financial incentives.
