The Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission on Nov. 19 approved National Grid plc’s proposed rate adjustments stemming from reconciliations for various costs for the one-year period from January 2016 through December 2016. The company said that the overall impact of the changes will result in an increase of $1.57, or about 1.7 percent increase in a typical monthly residential bill. The retail rate changes, filed last March, include annual reconciliations for the company’s standard offer service and administrative costs for the service, non-bypassable transition charge, transmission service charge, transmission-related uncollectible expense, net metering charge, and the long-term contracting for renewable energy recovery factor. The commission also approved the company’s 2017 renewable energy standard charge. The rates are effective April 1, 2017.
