California is engaged in increasingly more granular DER activities spread across a number of proceedings for energy efficiency, energy storage, demand response, residential rate structures, and alternative-fueled vehicle programs. The two main proceedings are the Distribution Resource Planning (DRP) proceeding (R.14-08-013) aimed at determining the values of DER and the locations for DER deployment by utilities; and the Demand-Side Resources (IDER) proceeding (R1410003) focused on creating a regulatory framework to provide policy consistency for the direction and review of demand-side resource programs.
