Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., an affiliate of National Grid Plc, proposes to boost annual spending on transmission and distribution repairs, upgrades and other projects in New York to $805.7 million in fiscal year 2024, up from $573 million in 2020, according to the utility’s five-year capital investment plan issued Jan. 31.
- Capital spending to total $3.49 billion for the plan period spanning fiscal years 2020 to 2024.
- Spending on replacements of worn out infrastructure to account for over 40 percent of total capital investment under the plan.
- Spending on the distributed energy system, to support integration of non-wires alternatives, including microgrids, storage, distributed generation interconnections, and electric vehicles to total $48 million under the plan, or about one percent of the total investments.
- Annual spending on the distributed energy system to double over the plan period to $15 million in fiscal year 2024.
