The New York State Board on Electric Generation announced hearings to receive comments on Bluestone Wind LLC’s proposal to construct a 124-megawatt wind energy project in the towns of Windsor and Sanford, Broome County. The move follows the board’s determination that the company’s Article 10 application is complete. The decision-making process under Article 10, adopted in the 2011 Power NY Act, provides a process for local input when large projects are involved, and ensures that environmental and public health laws are followed. The board scheduled two public hearing sessions for Jan. 29.
The utility-scale project would include up to 33 wind turbines and a 10-megawatt battery storage system. The project proposes to deliver power into the New York Independent System Operator’s transmission system. Bluestone Wind is a subsidiary of Calpine Corporation.
